‘Arrow’ season 2 spoilers: Boss on return of Malcolm Merlyn, his bond with Thea
“Arrow” fans have a lot to look forward to in the final two episodes of the season. Not only do you have the showdown between Oliver and Slade Wilson along with the return of the League of Assassins, but you can also look forward to having Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman) back for some mysterious reason. Maybe he has heard about Moira’s death, or maybe he just wants to try and help protect Thea from the invasion of Slade and his mirakuru army.
Regardless of what happens, there is one thing that you can clearly expect as this episode airs: Insanity in all forms. As show boss Andrew Kreisberg claims in a brand-new interview with TV Guide, this man is going to work to endear himself quickly to Willa Holland’s character:
“Thea will find herself in a precarious predicament and she will be saved by her father. Malcolm is going to offer her what she doesn’t have anymore. That was part of our math with killing Moira [Susanna Thompson]. If we were going to send Thea in that direction, she needed to have nothing pulling her back here. Now she has a brother [Stephen Amell] who lied to her and has done something unforgivable and no mother. On the flip side, she has Malcolm Merlyn saying, ‘I will never lie to you, Thea.'”
To us, this all sounds very exciting given that we could see Thea going down a dark road with Malcolm very easily. He is a horrible man who has done horrible things, but the personal betrayal here may not feel the same to her as it does with either her brother or her mother, who refused to tell her the truth for most of her life.
