ABC’s ‘Resurrection’ season 2: What we know now about renewal chances, series’ future

Resurrection -Tonight, “Resurrection” is set to end on ABC after a strong eight-episode run, which has turned out to be mostly an introduction to the world of Arcadia, Missouri, and also some of the characters. When the show first premiered, there were notions of it being an “event series” designed to only for this long … but that doesn’t look like the case anymore.

Tonight’s episode is being billed as the “season finale,” and when you look at the ratings, there is little reason to believe that there will not be a second season. While things have slowed down as of late, there is probably enough mileage for another eight episodes to continue and potentially even wrap up the story. As a matter of fact, we would almost situate season 2 as the end given the recent models established from other serialized dramas. These shows tend to lose steam quickly in their second years more often than not, and this allows for a fitting end rather than something that is rushed.

So what direction do we want to see the show go in? First and foremost, we’re excited about the idea of the returnee situation going national, and what sort of impact that has on the world. It will not take much time at all for the press to descend on this. You’ve certainly seen how crazy the media has gone with lesser stories, so imagine what they would do with this one (even if it is in a fictional world).

If there is another season coming, you can probably expect it to premiere at around the same time of the year in the late winter / early spring. That makes it a prime candidate to be a midseason replacement for a show that fared poorly in the ratings.

What do you want to see on “Resurrection” next season, provided that the show of course is renewed? Share your thoughts below, and head over to the link here to read some more news related to the show. We’ll also have a full review of the finale
