‘Bates Motel’ season 2 spoilers: Finale chatter via Freddie Highmore, Carlton Cuse
The final two episodes of “Bates Motel” season 2 begin airing tonight on A&E, and then carry over to the epic finale that takes place on May 5. This is a time when many questions will answered, and as a matter of fact, we now have more evidence that the Miss Watson case is going to come closure to its completion.
In a conference call today with reporters, executive producer Carlton Cuse claimed that the finale “moves the overall narrative a big step forward,” and that we will “find out more about Norman’s real culpability in the Miss Watson case.” Cuse is hesitant to still confirm that the show is going ultimately in the same trajectory as where we see the Norman character in “Psycho,” saying that “there are some bad things that loom ahead for Norma and Norman, but I think it would actually rob the audience of the journey to be too specific about how we’re going to play [the story ahead].”
Star Freddie Highmore echoed in the call today that there will be many more answers when it comes to Miss Watson, and also hinted that “there comes a point” soon when some of the characters soon will have to question whether or not they want to continue to support his actions. As Norman realizes more and morein the future just what he is capable of, that in turn spells out plenty of trouble for the other characters on the show.
Given that “Bates Motel” has already been renewed for a third season and that plan was always in the cards, you can at least have some confidence now that the showrunners are very confident with what they are doing, and what will be coming up. Let’s just say that the finale is Carlton’s favorite episode of the season, and that should be a good indication of how intense it is going to be.
