ABC’s ‘Resurrection’ spoilers: A tease at a larger story coming
Remember when ABC first claimed that “Resurrection” was going to be some sort of limited series? Well, we now have proof that the network may actually have much more in mind for the show than they were first willing to say.
This suggestion comes courtesy of executive producer Michele Fazekas, who teases to TV Guide that there are some big things that they have mapped out to close off this season, and to possibly leave you with something to think about for the future:
“There’s a huge reveal at the very last moment … We had laid the groundwork for that throughout the eight episodes, so there’s a really big reveal for one of the main characters. The game totally changes and it gets much bigger than these little individual stories.”
We don’t necessarily want to give away the wrong impression here that we are against the idea of the show getting more than a season TV. It’s rather strong when you compare it to other sci-fi products on network TV, and it has Kurtwood Smith. Anything that has Kurtwood Smith should be worthy of a long life on TV. We just wonder why it was ever billed as something otherwise, since watching it thinking that it could be entirely self-contained appears to be a misnomer.
If “Resurrection” does come back (and we feel like it will, given that its ratings are much-improved from where “Revenge” was at this point last year), we do hope that they keep the eight-episode format. That forces the stories to be intense and filled with story, and keeps things from becoming procedural or something that is difficult for new fans to catch up on.

It’s not really that shocking honestly. CBS’s Under the Dome was supposed to be a “limited series” last summer, but the second it got huge ratings here we are with a second season (and they want 5 if i recall correctly). If 24 does well for FOX this summer, no doubt it’ll come back. If Heroes sequel series does well for NBC next year, then it’ll be the same deal. They just say it’s a limited series if the ratings tank.
