NBC’s ‘The Voice’ results: Was Tess Boyer, Dani Moz, or T.J. Wilkins eliminated?
While there were a few people who were almost surely safe on “The Voice’s” results show Tuesday night, there were a score of people who were all in jeopardy. Thanks to some terrible song choices from the coaches, a good clump of half of the top 12 were not that close to the top 100 on iTunes. That’s typically the best pre-show indicator that is out there.
The first batch of contestants were mostly the predictable ones: Josh Kaufman, Sisaundra Lewis, Delvin Choice, Audra McLaughlin, Kristen Merlin, and Kat Perkins. It was already a given that Christina Grimmie would be safe and Jake Worthington did well on the iTunes charts. That brought us down to four contestants: Tess Boyer, Dani Moz, T.J. Wilkins, and Bria Kelly. Our feeling going into this was that Dani and T.J. would be going home.
This is when things started to get slightly more interesting for the show: T.J., Tess, and Dani were the bottom three, which means that Shakira and Usher continue to be shafted as coaches. We got to hear the three artists perform again, and the #InstantSave (ugh, still not fair for the West Coast) came into play.
T.J., “I’ll Be” – A good, but also, generic take on the song. We don’t know if it will get further votes beyond his fan base.
Dani, “Turning Tables” – T.J. was better than Dani, who was simply off through most of this until the very end of it.
Tess, “Darkside” – Tess was probably the best performer of the bunch, but even she had some nerves and jitters going on.
America made the right choice! Tess is through, and that makes us for the drama, and for having to sit through the same performance that we had from Shakira on “The Voice” UK. This show could really be thirty minutes and we’d be fine with that. Grade: C+.
