‘Big Brother Canada 2’ review: Did Arlie or Adel go home; who won Head of Household?
For the first half hour of its show Thursday night, “Big Brother Canada 2” was really all over the place. There were some great moments, some weird ones, and obviously proof that production hates how little Rachelle is bringing to the table. How else do you justify them including the hot tub incident in the show?
This was definitely the “OMG” moment of the night, since there was a lot of predictable stuff, including the “Top Chef Canada” product placement that didn’t really amount to anything. Everyone just wanted to get to the vote, and they took their sweet time doing so. It was 40 or so minutes in before Arlie was officially evicted, and while that’s good for Jon and Neda, it’s bad for the sake of having someone to stir up trouble. Adel may be good at playing Canada, but he’s a terrible strategist.
Arlie’s biggest weakness was just that he underestimated Neda as a social player, and thought he was the best by such a large margin that nobody would question him. Arlie had some goodbye messages, but we’re not sure if Neda’s message was a good choice given that she has to get the guy to vote for her. He should respect game … with the emphasis on “should.”
As for the Head of Household Competition, it was surprisingly another Q&A when we were expecting endurance. Boo to that! This was a session where the houseguests had to guess about items in a trunk, and we’ve already more or less seen this before. Neda won it, and that means an interesting week ahead given what happened with Jon in power.
The biggest disappointment of the night? The “reveal” that Canada was the 7th juror, hyped up like it was actually something surprising. Boo to that. Everyone knew this was coming, and it’s not even new since it was done in “Big Brother 11” after Chima destroyed her microphone. Well, at least this season has something in common with it in the “incidents involving aquatic entertainment” department. Grade: B-.
