‘Doctor Who’ season 8: What former Doctor is open to returning at some point?
At the moment, we are all sitting around in an eager waiting game for more of “Doctor Who” to come on the air. At the moment, we’re waiting for filming on the new season to be complete, and that does traditionally take a while to happen.
So while we wait, how about some fun lines about possible returning Doctors? We heard recently that Paul McGann is not interested in bringing back his version of the character for a little while, mostly because he feels as though there is not that much more he can bring to the role right now while Peter Capaldi is getting his legs in the part.
Now, we’ve got some interesting comments from fellow former Doctor Tom Baker per the Independent, which bring his own unique perspective to the mix:
”I turned down ‘The Five Doctors’ [20th anniversary episode] because it wasn’t long since I’d left – I had left Doctor Who because I think I’d run my course. I didn’t want to play 20 per cent of the part. I didn’t fancy being a feed for other Doctors – in fact, it filled me with horror.
”Now, of course, if someone asked me to do a scene with some other Doctors, I think, if they let me tamper with the script, it would probably be quite droll. I would think about that, yes.”
Both actors were involved in the 50th anniversary of the series in some way, with McGann doing a part in a web video while Baker turned up in the actual special itself. A great time was had by all … or at least all viewers.
Baker didn’t stop there when it comes to talking about the show; we also have to bring to you this pretty funny zinger that he shared about the BBC itself:
”The thing with the BBC is you’ve really got to be able to suspend your disbelief, I mean anything can happen at the BBC.
“The monsters on ‘Doctor Who’ were never so amazing as the monsters on the sixth floor as I remember them. There were some very improbable looking people there. Who would make signs and nudge you and things.”
