You knew that the moment Disney got themselves another successful movie in “Frozen” that this was going to come up in conversation: Whether or not a character or two could cross over to “Once Upon a Time” in the future. We know that fans want it, and therefore you cannot rule it out … especially courtesy of some of the scoop we have now.
First of all, E! News quotes executive producer Adam Horowitz as saying that they “would be completely honored if Kristen Bell or Idina Menzel [would want to come on board.” E! then tracked down Bell, who said it would be “unbelievable” to have a chance to do the character of Anna on the show.
If this were to happen, it obviously wouldn’t be this season (scripts are already written), and given that Kristen has a full-time TV gig on Showtime’s “House of Lies,” it would probably only be a small arc if she was to appear. Do we want to see it happen? We’re a little torn on it; there’s no doubt that “Frozen” is beloved, and there is an obvious appeal creatively and in terms of ratings to get Elsa or Anna on here. However, shouldn’t fairy tales be like a hall of fame, and you give them a few years to simmer in their original form? We wouldn’t mind if the original had a chance to stand along for a little while until they started to have the characters adapted into other universes. (Then again, though, Disney’s not likely to do this anyway. We’re sure that Elsa will pop up in some random cartoon or in “Frozen 2” sooner rather than later.)
