‘Big Brother Canada 2’ review: Was Allison or Jon the real power player?

Allison -Wednesday’s “Big Brother Canada 2” may actually be the best of the entire season, and for quite a few reasons. There was a ton of humor, a ton of strategy, and also a couple of people who genuinely furthered their status in the game beyond where it was at the start of the night.

The big winner, at least in our books, was Allison. She knew that her secret Veto power was ending, and using it to save Sabrina was brilliant. Sabrina plays this game with strategy, but also emotions. She will hold to this very firmly for the rest of the season, and it could be a jury vote from Sabrina in the end if she makes it to the final two. Allison needed to secure a spot with someone in this game, given that she hadn’t quite done that beforehand.

Also, the great thing for Allison is that Jon is the one who still gets blood on his hands. He is the person who backdoored Arlie, and had to stick Adel up there when she pulled that Secret Veto out. He’s now in the spot where it is possible Arlie stays in the game, and he has to deal with the ramifications of that. It could either be a great move, or one that ruins his entire game.

Away from the strategy, let’s comment for at least a minute on some of the silly stuff. The fakeout on the Marsha the Moose challenge was priceless, and we love how Adel went from flirting with the moose to cursing her and threatening to beat her with a picture frame minutes later when he thought that he had failed. Also, the date in handcuffs produced great comedy and also some drunken moments.

There were only two parts of this episode that were a slight letdown: The Ramada Power of Veto Competition (this show is running for product placement president at the moment), and also the fact that the original plan to backdoor Allison, coupled with her drunken emotional breakdown that was a big part of the backdoor Arlie plan, was completely admitted. This was well documented on the live feeds.

Still, we are happy with the episode as a whole. At least there were some big things that are going to go down now on Thursday’s episode. Grade: B+.
