‘Law & Order: SVU’ season 15, episode 20 video: A chilling Mariska Hargitay scene

You know that Wednesday’s “Law & Order: SVU” episode is going to be and large by horrifying thanks to the return of William Lewis (Pablo Schreiber) to the show, but in the latest sneak peek for this particular hour, you get a better sense of just how chilling this story gets.

In a scene below that can definitely be described as “uncomfortable to watch,” you can see Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) called up by Lewis, and his tells her immediately that he has the sort of hostage that can pierce her heart in precisely the way in which he hopes.  He wants to make her suffer, and he knows that the best way that he can do that is by having her completely humiliate herself publicly in order to protect a child. This means having a news conference, admitting that she was “wrong” in front of the 6:00 p.m. news, and then giving into the despicable man’s demands.

Do we really think that this is the way that this story will go? Hardly, mostly because this is Olivia Benson that we’re talking about here! If there is one thing that we have learned about her above all else in the past 15 (!) years, it is that she is a woman who never gives up, and always finds a way to make things happen for justice. This is not going to be easy, but we imagine that she is going to have help. Lewis’ escape is hardly going to be brushed under the rug, and she will have the assistance of a good part of the NYPD to track him down. She just better hope that she constantly remains a step ahead, and that she can outsmart this man one last time.
