‘Pretty Little Liars’ season 5 spoilers: ‘The Carrie Diaries’ actress scores role as…

When “Pretty Little Liars” season 5 picks up in June, the likes of Hanna, Emily, Aria, and Spencer are going to have some new blood in Rosewood … but seemingly, this person is going to be a friend rather than a foe. Or, this is at least what we hope. It’s pretty well-documented at this point that on this show, allegiances can shift and turn at a drop of a hat.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, actress Chloe Bridges, who you may know from her part as Donna on two season of “The Carrie Diaries,” has signed on to recur on the show in the role of Sydney. You may have heard about this part in another story that we posted recently, and this character is going to end up being a friend of sorts to Shay Mitchell’s character and another member of the swim team. For the time being, there is no indication at all that she is going to serve as a love interest.

Bridges will make her first appearance on the show in the third episode of the season, so by the time she turns up, at least some of the stories for the year will have already been set in motion. We just hope that somewhere along the way here, we will have an opportunity to learn a thing or two about where Emily and Paige now stand. It wasn’t addressed at all during the season finale, and it merits (at least we feel) at least a few scenes to get things going again when the show returns to the air.

As always, we will have some more on this and other “Pretty Little Liars” stories as things become more clear. For those curious, “The Carrie Diaries” has not been renewed or canceled yet, and thanks to schedules, don’t take this casting as a sign one way or the other. Bridges could easily do this show and still film the other for The CW later this summer.
