‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 10 spoilers: Another change for Sandra Oh’s Cristina

What's next? -

In many ways, we are seeing “Grey’s Anatomy” season 10 being set up as the season of change for many, but especially Dr. Cristina Yang. This is what happens, after all, when you know that the character is going to be leaving the hospital at the end of the season. She has to make change to justify the departure.

As you have seen already in some of material out there from Thursday’s “Do You Know,” this battle is already waging for Sandra Oh’s character as to whether or not Seattle is really the best place for her anymore. This is only going to be amplified further in an episode airing a couple of weeks later entitled “I’m Winning” (which is sadly probably not inspired by Charlie Sheen). Based on the short synopsis below (via Zap2It), it feels like a possible award could help Cristina further make a decision that there are bigger and better things out there for her that she cannot completely get in Seattle:

“Cristina won’t let herself get excited when she is nominated for a Harper Avery award; Alex thinks about making a change; Callie and Derek work with a machine that recognizes emotions.”

If this machine really does recognize emotions, odds are we may need it by the time this season is over to help us cope with the large amount of sadness that we have in our heart. After all, Cristina is beloved! She is one of the most important characters in the history of the series, and it will be difficult to think of the show without her. The only thing that you can feel at least a little bit better about is the fact that Shonda Rhimes and the writers at least had a long time to think about how they wanted this story to end, and there was never a moment where they felt like they really needed to rush things along at all.

What do you think this synopsis could mean? As always, we welcome your theories, and you can also head over to the link here to grab some more news and updates from us via our CarterMatt Newsletter.
