When you are reading news online about “Glee,” it can sometimes get confusing trying to differentiate between what is the New York City set for the show, and what is actually New York City. As of late, we have just assumed that most of the cast is shooting in Los Angeles, since it is hardly cheap to go back and forth between the two cities (especially when you consider the lower ratings and rising costs that come in later seasons).
Well, we can tell you now that Lea Michele is actually shooting in the real New York City this week. The actress confirmed as much in a new post on Twitter, although she was mum specifically on what Rachel was up to that merited the trip across the country.
If we were to make an educated guess, the easy thing for the show would be to say that there could be some sort of exterior scenes coming up that required either an iconic landmark, or just the New York City feel on the streets that could not be properly replicated in Los Angeles. The only other explanation would be if the show was shooting in an iconic venue, since most generic locations could be fabricated easily in California. (In case you didn’t catch it, what we’re trying to say here is that it is smart for most shows to avoid shooting in the Big Apple if they can, if it is not their primary location. After all, it can get very pricey very fast.)
