‘Two and a Half Men’ season 11, episode 17 review: The meaning of ‘Welcome Home, Jake’

The latest -When we first heard the news that Thursday night’s new “Two and a Half Men” episode was entitled “Welcome Home, Jake,” it was understandable that you would wonder whether or not Angus T. Jones was coming back. But alas, that was not the case. Angus is off at school somewhere with millions of dollars and a hipster beard.

Instead, this quote was a reference to the fact that when Barry arrived at Walden’s home, everyone assumed that he was Jake based on his age and his appearance … and that wasn’t even remotely the case. The only real similarity between the two is that they were both trying to shack up with Ashton Kutcher’s character.

This entire episode in turn was about Walden and his attempts to actually throw someone out … and we still have no idea at all as to whether or not he actually succeeded. He got Barry an apartment, but he still didn’t particularly want to live at it. Why would he when he could smoke and party with Jenny and Brooke? He didn’t see the need. This entire story was pretty silly … but we admit to laughing at least a couple of times.

Elsewhere, we had more on the ever-annoying story revolving around Alan as “Jeff Strongman.” Our issue with continually seeing him try to hook up with Lyndsey on the side is not that Alan is unlikable; instead, it is assuming that Larry and his sister (a.k.a. Alan’s new girlfriend) are complete idiots who are never going to figure out that he is Jeff Strongman. The only other issue with this is that “Two and a Half Men” did the same exact thing last season when it comes to the Walden character by making him “Sam.” There’s nothing new here, and you knew that this is going to blow up in his face eventually. We just hope that it is in the end epic. Grade: C+.
