‘Big Brother Canada 2’ premiere review: Who is the final houseguest? We have an answer…
“Big Brother Canada” is back on the air, and after watching the season premiere tonight, we’ve found a way (somehow) to be even more excited than we were before things even started. We’re not sure that we have a favorite yet (though we predicted Jon to win beforehand), but this hour brought us all sorts of assorted craziness, some comedy, and a Head of Household Competition that had a nice little element of torture to it.
The premise of this was all about the 14 houseguests standing on blocks of ice, and that almost immediately made us feel very good about thinking that Paul would be the first one out of the house. He’s already made quite a few enemies with his HOH deal. Who does this guy even think that he is, and that the other people are this dumb? Speaking of dumb, Kyle wins himself some early d-bag points for calling Heather “the blonde one.” Speaking of Heather, she also made an early first impression by acting like she had this weird Betty Boop voice, only for it to disintegrate the moment that she was in the house.
Heather was the recipient of a $1,000 prize after jumping off when the show tired to bribe people to jump off the ice blocks … and then Ika was told to wear her Canada-themed bikini for 48 hours in a row.
So here’s the thing, though: Despite his terrible gameplay, Paul eventually did prove our prediction wrong. He convinced everyone to jump off so that he could be HoH for the first week, which is a really ridiculous thing to want. So even though he got himself power for this time around, we can’t imagine him staying safe next week if the right people win. He may not be a huge physical threat, but he’s overplayed his hand and made a ton of people upset.
After this, the show finally unveiled the big #FinalHG twist, and it’s close to something that we predicted. Allison, Nate, and Scott are all playing to win your votes in a separate room, and one of them will enter the house next week. Who do we support? It’s hard to say, but at least Allison doesn’t seem to be nearly as over-the-top as the other two. No matter who wins, they are going to have a two week free pass going into the house and by then all alliances will have been made. It’s going to be tough.
Overall this was a very fun premiere and we really can’t complain. Plus, this was an awesome way for the show to involve Canada, and not completely destroy the integrity of the game in the process. Grade: B+.
