‘NCIS’ season 11 spoilers: The plan when it comes to Bishop’s husband
It’s not often that you run into a character on a procedural show who is already married, and there is one pretty simple reason for that: They like to create relationship drama! There are not as many storytelling options out there when you have someone who has already gotten to this point in their personal life … but ever since Emily Wickersham first debuted as Bishop on “NCIS,” we really haven’t seen anything from this part of her life at all.
We do think that eventually, meeting this man will be essential for understanding the Bishop character fully, and how she operates at home in addition to on the job; but, it seems like this is not something that is an immediate priority for the writers and producers. Just look at what showrunner Gary Glasberg had to say in a new interview with TVLine:
“At some point we’ll spend some time with her husband, but we wanted to introduce her first and let people connect with her and understand who she is first.”
Personally, we imagine that this could be one of the stories that is saved for season 12, mostly because the scripts for this season have already been written. As a matter of fact, they even were when they went back in and made changes to write in the passing of Ralph Waite and his character of Jackson Gibbs. This could join Gibbs’ second ex-wife as one of the stories that the show could touch on in the fall or the spring of next year. (We’re just assuming that a renewal is going to come back without a problem.)

There is hope. Instead of depending on Bishop, the show is going to use 2 entire episodes piloting NOLA. I think they need to figure out what to do about the mess they have created with their number 1 show. Using a show for a pilot is unheard of. Generally they want both the show and the spin-off pilot to make money.

I care nothing about Bishop’s husband because Bishop annoys me and actively dislike her character. There is no rewrite or remake or new plot or additional character or PLEASE no more screen time or background information that will fix this. She is horrible, get rid of her. The referenced episode with Gibbs’ ex-wife was not on any way believable nor impressive. This season has been the worst yet for our beloved characters — Abby has become a faint imitation of her former self ‘I hate guns.’ She is a forensic scientist who could tell you every single gun ever made and used, when where and who. Are you trying to kill this show on purpose?

Been watching the show since it started, I would go crazy if I missed an episode, now that’s all changed. Not crazy about her she is destroying the show there is no chemistry with any of the actors on the show. The show was always exciting , now it’s very dull we need chemistry with the guys again bring Cote back!!!

Bishop is a good addition to the show…the brain among the brawn, but her character lacks depth and she is in the danger of falling into a stereotype. The writers really need to pump it up for Bishop. In contrast the character of Delilah is interesting. It would be exciting to see the two of them on screen…

What really bothers me is the way Gibbs has changed. Before he would never hire her as a probie. NCIS is my favorite show since Jag. But I can’t give up on the show. Too soon for that. Not sure Bishop will be around next season. Come on guys don’t give up on the show yet. We all should keep putting our comments in, good or bad.

Don’t like Bishop, don’t want to learn about her husband or anything else about her. She used up all her chances. This show died.

It has become very painful to watch NCIS. I do like the friendship between DiNozzo and McGee, however, the chemistry between McGee and Abbey is gone. The character of Bishop is just not someone I can embrace. There doesn’t seem to be chemistry between any of the characters. It is a drama, now, and nothing else. I don’t see the showcasing of a character on each of the episodes. Perhaps it’s because the personal stories of the characters have already unfolded. There is no spark, depth, drama or passion to light up the screen. I find myself watching the old re-runs over and over and over again. I hope you do something fast, because I can’t sit through many more of these episodes.

If she is in season 12 I will be gone. I just hope the ratings continue to drop, I hope that EW is not in a re relationship with anyone important in the show and I hope GG’s ego is not so big that he cannot admit a mistake. Giving her a husband and a story will not help.

at this point I would be shocked if she is in season 12. the character is irredeemable. IF she signs again I can only assume she has a high ranking relative at CBS.

Glasberg comes off as someone who probably believes he is the best showrunner in Hollywood. I would be surprised if he ever believes he made a mistake. It is just my opinion but something in the way he carries himself rubbed me the wrong way.
I read that she has a three year contract. I have no idea where I read it so it might just be a rumor.

Fans do not care about Bishop and her husband. Fans want the good old ncis. I can’t understand their strategy…

I have not made any connection with Bishop after all of these episodes. I’m just tired of her and want her to leave. Maybe if her husband were Hannibal Lecter I wouldn’t mind. And let’s hope she doesn’t come back for Season 12.

I’m excited to see who Bishop’s husband is going to end up being. Although I miss Ziva every time I watch the show, I am started to love Ellie Bishop and feel as though she is bringing a lot of new support and personality to the show. Looking forward to seeing her future
