‘Saturday Night Live’ preview: Jim Parsons with Beck, Cecily Strong (video)
We couldn’t think of two more random people to be appearing on “Saturday Night Live” this weekend than Beck and Cecily Strong, but we certainly do understand why there was a demand to bring the two of them on board. After all, you’re looking at a pair of people who are very talented in their respected fields, and could bring a little bit of everything to the show this weekend.
But, the preview below is focused more on comedy than it is music, so of course Parsons and Cecily Strong are going to take center stage here. With that being said, it’s not like either party has been necessarily given so much material that they really can shine with it. If you take away that lengthy advertisement at the end of this to watch some other clips related to the show, then what we have here is really not something that is about 30 seconds or so.
We expect tonight ultimately to be a killer show, and anything else will be a letdown. Parsons is extremely experienced at being on stage and performing in front of live audiences; he does the latter on “The Big Bang Theory” a good majority of the year. Also, with Colin Jost at the “Weekend Update” table and with Seth Meyers gone, we have a feeling that the show is going to be desperate to prove itself. This is the first time in over a decade that it has gone without him, and it needs to prove to the world that it still knows how to be ridiculously funny.
