‘American Idol’ notes: Adam Lambert – Queen ‘announcement,’ a Phillip Phillips preview

Raging Fire -Before you get your weekend fully started, why not take a quick look at a pair of the biggest stories breaking across the “American Idol” community?

Adam Lambert’s big announcement – This is a story that is getting a lot of play right now across the internet, and for reasons that are certainly understandable. According to a new report from ABC News Radio, the singer and Queen have some sort of event scheduled for Thursday at Madison Square Garden. This has not been confirmed by either party just yet, and while we understand the desire to have people hoping for a U.S. tour announcement or a residency, let’s wait for the announcement to actually be made first, shall we?

Adam and Queen have performed a variety of shows (in particular in Europe) over the past week, and he has formed a good relationship with the band. While there will never be another Freddie Mercury, Adam does embody much of the essence and talent of the legendary rocker and is a perfect fit with the band.

Listen to a “Raging Fire” peek – In the Instagram video below today, Phillip teased some of the first clips from his new single, which will be available early next week. It’s almost impossible to judge any song based on something that is only around 15 seconds long, but for now we’re willing to say that this sounds like a darker version of “Gone, Gone, Gone,” which was his extremely successful single following the breakout smash “Home.” This makes even more sense when you become aware of the fact that Todd Clark and Derek Fuhrmann, who worked on this new song with Phillip, also worked on “Gone, Gone, Gone.”

Phillip will also perform this song on Thursday’s “American Idol” results show, in case you missed the previous announcements.
