Who doesn’t love “Downton Abbey“? Well, we’re sure that there are some people out there who don’t, but let’s just not focus on them for a minute or two and instead on the task at hand: Seeing an extremely funny “audition” for the show via Minnie Driver on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” this week.
Of course, Ellen went all out in order to ensure that the best setting possible was assembled in order to make this happen, and it came complete with some pretty spectacular dresses. From there, things started to get a little bit more awkward as Minnie was forced to read some lines out that she did not have any chance to get to know beforehand. Is there anything trickier than that? It’s almost like being on “Saturday Night Live” but even crazier.
While this is all clearly a joke, Driver in reality would have a really hard time getting on the show. Why is that? Well, “Downton Abbey” has already started to film its upcoming fifth season, and the scripts presumably have all been written out already. When you have something like that, you’re going to have a hard time filling a role, and you’re better off waiting until next season (if there is a next season) and hoping for the best.
But, at least this was a great laugh for today.
