‘Glee’ season 5 song spoilers: Listen to Lea Michele, Naya Rivera be ‘Brave’
Sara Bareilles’ “Brave” is one of the best songs of 2013, and even though it got a good bit of publicity and also a performance at the Grammy Awards, it still feels like it somehow managed to be completely underrated by many.
This is why we are pleased to hear that this song is being performed on “Glee” tomorrow night by Lea Michele (Rachel) and also Naya Rivera (Santana) before their story starts to get a little bit crazy with jealousy as well as conflicting career ambitions. These two characters will realize just how competitive the world of New York City can really be, especially when you are two people who are each working for the same goal.
As for this performance, it’s very pleasant. We’re not going to sit here and claim that “Glee” revolutionized the song at all, or really even did anything to change it beyond making it into more of a duet. (Then again, that’s also what Bareilles did at the Grammys with Carole King.) Lea and Naya do sound fantastic in the song, which once again proves that two female singers with huge voices can duet together without it getting into complete “out of control” territory.
There are going to be other Rachel / Santana musical moments coming up in the weeks ahead, so fans can begin to rejoice. Even if you did not particularly love this one for some reason or another, there will be some other wonderful songs coming around the bend. If you’re really impatient, you can click here to listen to the performance of “I Believe in a Thing Called Love” by Adam Lambert (Starchild) and Chris Colfer (Kurt).
