‘Law & Order: SVU’ season 15 spoilers: Questlove of The Roots lands quiet new role

Sometimes, dreams can come true … at least if that dream is playing a dead guy in a new episode of “Law & Order: SVU.”

Apparently, this was something that “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” / The Roots bandleader Questlove has been wanting to do for quite a long time. Heck, he even mentioned in in a “25 things you didn’t know about me” article in Us Weekly last fall. Well, this dream was made it into reality this week, and it was none other than Ice-T of the NBC series that confirmed the fantasy fulfilled in a post on Twitter.

Granted, what will be interesting to see from here is just what happened to have Questlove’s character killed off. Is he the main murder victim, or just a little Easter egg in a larger case? Both worthy questions. Either way, it is somewhat fun that the show decided to do this, especially since dead body roles are often the sort of thing that go either to extras or actors who are really just starting out in the business. For Questlove to covet one is pretty unusual, but also fun.

Next week, things are going to return a little bit to normal on NBC … and by that, we mostly mean the beginning of a regular schedule again, which includes “The Tonight Show” airing at a particular time and “Law & Order: SVU” returning to the air on Wednesday the 26th. Granted, it also probably means that next week marks when NBC’s ratings go down exponentially. While everyone touted big things that could happen following the summer games in London, it didn’t really feel like all of the extra promotion had an impact on any show save for maybe “The Voice.” The same goes for what happened with Fox after the Super Bowl.
