‘American Horror Story’ season 4: Jessica Lange on secrets, being on television
Want to know more on “American Horror Story” season 4? So does Jessica Lange. Even though this is reportedly going to be her final season on the show, the famed actress still does not know a whole lot about who she is going to be playing save for an extremely small detail.
Lange was asked a little bit about her future on the show in a lengthy feature interview with NJ.com, but could not offer up very much beyond a tiny little reminder that the show’s own executive producer is notorious for keeping things under wraps:
“Ryan keeps things very close to the vest, so I don’t know … Although apparently I’m going to have a German accent!”
Lange did get a little bit more in-depth, though, in talking about the very different sort of experience that she has had being a part of a television series the past three years, especially in comparison to all of the legendary and stellar work that she has done in movies over the past several decades, which has also led her to receive plenty of acclaim:
“It’s been very illuminating, because as an actor, you prepare, you figure out your voice, or this and that; it’s this deliberate, intellectual process … On television, though, there’s this velocity — it’s not like some big movie where you’re sitting around all day in your trailer, you have to be quick on your feet and hit the floor running. So in the end you just rely on your imagination, which I love anyway, and try to be in the moment, which it’s really all about.”
We don’t personally feel very much like Lange is going to be kept in the dark for an extremely long time here when it comes to her character. Instead, the writers are already at work with the concept of the new season, and we’ll find out reasonably soon what the theme is going to be. At least beyond that, details about some of the cast members and the individual characters may remain a little bit unclear.
