‘The Bachelor’: Chris Harrison says Sharleen Joynt was a Juan Pablo Galavis favorite
There was a particularly interesting moment that happened on Monday night’s “The Bachelor” that has been in many ways overlooked by everything else that happened in the episode: Juan Pablo Galavis seemingly telling his friend that Sharleen Joynt was really the woman that he wanted to be. Specifically, he used the words “the one.” While we’ve learned now that Juan Pablo does not always mean everything the way it comes out of his mouth, this was still a big thing to say … especially since the opera singer checked herself out of the competition a few days later.
So was she really at the top of his list? Juan Pablo did say that she would have at least made it to the hometown dates, and host Chris Harrison tells TV Guide that he knew she was one of the favorites:
“Sharleen was at the top of his list from the moment she got out of the limo. We talked about this during deliberations that you didn’t see. I kept asking him and pushing him about Sharleen and whether he felt that the level of chemistry and respect was being reciprocated because I never saw it. He was just so captivated by her and I just think he liked the fact that she was so sophisticated and talented and had so much to offer. He was blinded by that and really wanted it to work.”
So really, what Harrison seems to be expressing here is that Juan Pablo was more in love with the idea of the life that could’ve been if he was with her; in reality, it probably wouldn’t have worked, since they both wanted such different things. Her leaving was the best thing that could happen for him if he wants to move forward.
Still, we wonder if the woman Juan Pablo picked at the end of the season is going to be somewhat upset or offended by what was said on the show last night, or feels like they were picked just because Sharleen left.
One person who we don’t think he’ll end up picking? Andi Dorfman, who was shown in the preview for this upcoming episode going at him over something that happened in the fantasy suite. What was pretty interesting about that is that it basically spoiled that she makes it to the overnight dates.
