‘Arrow’ season 2 spoilers: First look at Robert Knepper as Clock King
Is there any capable bad guy that Robert Knepper cannot play? The moment that we first heard that “Arrow” had cast him to play the role of Clock King, we were excited; now, we are even more so upon seeing the first photo of him from the show’s February 26 return entitled “Time of Death.”
Clock King, otherwise known as William Tockman, is a villain from DC lore best known for his use of time motifs, and for being extremely shrewd, methodical, and calculating. (He’s basically a much cooler Calendar Man … though we know there are some differences between the two, as well.) The original version of the character had no superpowers, and you can likely believe that this is also probably where the show is going with their interpretation, given their desire to steer as clear of such things as humanly possible.
We hope that Knepper can be a villain that can potentially appear on the show again in the future a la a Count Vertigo or a Huntress, mostly because you have such a great actor for the role. “Arrow” has already brought on some people like Shrapnel and the Dollmaker this season who were basically one-and-done, and there are some more of those on the way. (We originally thought that it was going to be this way with Bronze Tiger, but he ended up returning recently for a story arc revolving around the prototype for the earthquake machine.)
Of course, Oliver Queen and the rest of Team Arrow also have some other significant villains to worry about this season, including Slade Wilson / Deathstroke in addition to Brother Blood. They can’t spend too much time on all of the individual villains, since they do eventually have to get to the major ones.
