‘True Detective’ episode 5 preview: is the case for Hart and Cohle ‘closed’?
While there may not be a sneak-peek clip of Sunday night’s “True Detective” to share as of this writing, we can at least tell you still that things for the HBO show are going to get very, very interesting. You have likely been wondering when we are going to see more of a connection between the present and the past, and this will be the episode that starts to really push us in that direction.
While you have already seen a promo for this installment (entitled “The Secret Fate of All Life”), the interesting thing about it here is that you actually find out some more about the story ahead in the short synopsis below than you do about anything that is featured in there:
“Hart and Cohle share the spoils of a solved case; Papania (Tory Kittles) and Gilbough (Michael Potts) confront the detectives with troubling new intelligence.”
So what does this new intelligence mean? Basically, that they may have been wrong the entire time, and we wonder to an extent if Hart and Cohle would also know that. The interesting dichotomy when it comes to these two characters is seeing the people that they became in the “present” in comparison to who they were during the investigation; for example, there has to be a reason why Rust suddenly decided t jump on board the alcohol train, and seem to be even more alone and aloof than he ever was before (and he was pretty alone and aloof them). One other teaser that we’ll share here is that there are some other time periods that we are going to explore with these characters before the end of the season.
