See ABC’s pilot ‘Mixology’ (with ‘Glee,’ ‘Once Upon a Time’ actors) online now

It’s not often these days that you really get a high-concept comedy; as a matter of fact, we would only really consider “How I Met Your Mother” to be one out of the show’s on television. (“Community” occasionally puts itself in that space, but its premise is actually rather simple despite the craziness going on around it.)

This is what makes ABC’s new comedy “Mixology” interesting. It’s a show about dating to an extent, but also just about the lives of a group of people who are in the same sphere of a bar in New York City that caters to a very specific crowd. It’s a comedy that may have to sell its premise a little bit more than a standard family comedy or something containing fart jokes; therefore, it makes a little bit of sense that the network has already put both of the first two episodes online for viewing now. So why do we feel like this was a pretty brilliant move to put the pilot for the show online? The simple answer to that is merely that there is going to be an audience out there for it right now, and we don’t know if that same audience is going to be around alter. Unless you love the Olympics, you’re probably bored right now by the drought in new programming (or unless, of course, you are off somewhere binge-watching “House of Cards” … which we understand). When “Mixology” does premiere on Wednesday, February 26, you are going to be inundated by many other options.

One other selling point for any of you that are considering watching: The show features some people you may be familiar with such as Vanessa Lengies (Sugar on “Glee“), Sarah Bolger (Aurora on “Once Upon a Time“), and Adam Canto (Paul on “The Following”).
