‘How I Met Your Mother’ series finale: Josh Radnor, Alyson Hannigan, more read script

The final script for “How I Met Your Mother” has been officially dispersed to the cast now, and there is apparently one overarching reaction that all of them had to reading it: Tears, followed of course by even more tears. There are probably going to be some moments in this episode that do get you a little misty-eyed, just as there are also going to be a few moments in here that get you rolling on the floor.

With that, just imagine what the experience must be to people who have actually been on the show all of this time. The following actors all said the following on Twitter as a response to reading the script:

Josh Radnor (Ted) – “Read the HIMYM series finale script on the treadmill at the gym this morning. People probably thought that was sweat in my eyes. Suckers.”

Alyson Hannigan (Lily) – “Today we are having our last ever HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER table read. Carter & Craig are trying to rip my heart out on Valentine’s Day.”

Neil Patrick Harris (Barney) – “Just finished the initial read thru of the final How I Met Your Mother. Ever. Holy moly. Just… holy dang moly. #soproud”

What is pretty nice about these emotional reactions is largely that two of these people in Alyson and Neil have been here before. They’ve been a part of shows that were considered in many ways iconic, and were so lucky to have multiple smash hits over the course of their career. How many people get that opportunity? The only answer that we can give for now is “not many.”
