‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 9 spoilers: Cobie Smulders, Neil Patrick Harris, and dunking

“How I Met Your Mother” has done some crazy things this season, and you would figure at some point, there would be some consequences to some of these actions.

Well, we are going to get the end result of some of these on Thursday night’s new episode “Rally.” Namely, what we’re going to potentially see here is the recovery of one Barney Stinson after an exceptionally wild night of heavy drinking … which included him getting so blasted that he had no problem actually telling the truth for a change on some of the biggest things that have ever happened to him (which have, for the record, included some pretty impressive lies).

So how do you get over the biggest hangover of all time? Maybe it’s by getting your head dunked in something. Cobie Smulders and Neil Patrick Harris have done some pretty funny things before on the show, but this scene in the photo above may be one of our personal favorites. It’s completely silly, made even sillier by just how horrified Lily looks to be witnessing the entire ordeal. It’s almost like there is anything else in the world that she would rather be doing than sitting here and watching this, save for maybe going through some of the fighting that she just had with Marshall all over again.

“Rally” marks the first of many consecutive “How I Met Your Mother” episodes on February 24, and it is setting up the one event everyone is ready to see: The epic series finale on March 31.
