‘King of the Nerds’ season 2, episode 4 review: Nicole, Zack and robot dodgeball
This has been a pretty intense start to “King of the Nerds” season 2 as we’ve seen the purple team win challenge after challenge and the gold team completely implode, but now that Zack has apologized to his teammates, we are expecting a bit of a smoother ride tonight and hopefully they can pull out a win. We do worry for the gold team though, because tonight’s challenge is said to involve robots and Katie is the master of all things robotic (which is why we ranked her number 1 in our weekly rankings this week).
We were suspecting that someone from the purple team was going to have to go over to the gold team since this has been incredibly unbalanced pretty much since the beginning, so it was no surprise when it was revealed that this was happening. The person was chosen by pulling a “token” out of a bag and it was Katie that was sent over to the gold team. Luckily for the gold team this week’s challenge is to create 4 robots for a robot dodgeball challenge and they have Katie who is a robot goddess. The purple team is not out of the running though because they still have engineers on their team.
Nerd War: At the Nerd War the team robots were judged and which ever team was deemed the winner would get an advantage as the other team would have one of their robots destroyed by a massive robot overload which was pretty much the coolest thing we’ve ever seen. The purple team got the advantage and the gold team lost a robot (shocker!). Things only got worse when the gold team loses the dodgeball game as well. Can this team ever get a win?
Nerd Off: Chris is starting to get worried about Zack because he’s shown that he’s a challenge beast and he knows that at some point the teams will be dismantled and Zack will be pwning everyone (yes, we wrote “pwning”… that’s for you Zack). They feel that Nicole will be the best choice because if she loses then Zack will continue to disrupt the team and if she wins then they won’t have to battle Zack when there’s no more teams. The gold team on the other hand realizes that the purple team will never vote in Katie and will keep dismantling their team, so we might see Zack not going into a Nerd Off for once. So who was chosen? The purple team sent in Nicole and the gold team sent in Zack.
Was this the best choice? It’s a bit of a toss up because Katie is likely still loyal to the purple team and they’ll never send her in unless they have to, but at the same time Zack is a challenge beast and they need to get rid of him now that people know just what a threat he is. The Nerd Off game is Zombie Kerplunk, basically they pull out a stake and hope not to drop “body parts” into a pit of zombies (which includes zombie Ivan!) This was a pretty intense challenge, but Zack came out on top again sending Nicole home.
We are sad to see Nicole go home… the gold team just can’t catch a break! Episode grade: A-
