‘American Idol’ notes: Candice Glover, Marialle Sellars, and Mariah Carey news

As you are watching the new episode of “American Idol” airing on Fox tonight, why not look at some of the other highlights that are breaking from around the internet?

We’ll start off here by posting a video of someone who you are going to see tonight, who has to this point been arguably the most-hyped contestant of the entire season: Marialle Sellars. We saw her audition a good three or four times, and while she is very good, we don’t think that this is the sort of standout performance that could get her into the finale. She’ll need to step it up moving forward, and bring a few new elements and dimensions to the table. She also has to deal with the sentiment that she is the favorite, and we’re in a world where people like underdogs.

A lot of Mariah Carey – The artist otherwise known as “Mimi” gave a pretty lengthy interview with the Breakfast Club, where things got very interesting and candid when it comes to both her career, and also ‘American Idol” as a whole. She made sure everyone knew in here that she did this competition for a really enormous paycheck, and that is the only reason she did. Also, she throws more shade at Nicki Minaj, and suggests that she wishes that she could push “delete” on most of the experience. No offense to Carey, but when it comes to the judges and the male contestants last year, we feel the same way. (Video below via HipHop-n-More.)
