‘Sherlock’: While you wait for season 4, consider this convention
Any respectable “Sherlock” fan knows that there are plenty of reasons to eagerly await the fourth season of the show. There are going to be opportunities for more drama, more action, and also potentially mysteries that could rival some of the show’s best. We enjoyed season three, but neither “The Empty Hearse,” “The Sign of Three,” or “His Last Vow” is at the top of the leaderboard when it comes to best mysteries or best bad guys (although we did love Charles Augustus Magnussen, he just wasn’t int he episode enough).
But do you know what does excite us greatly? The opportunity for there to be some sort of great convention, where you could discuss the series with some other like-minded fans, take part in events, and see how many people can cosplay as Holmes within the span of one place.
Speaking to fan site Sherlockology, executive producer Sue Vertue confirmed recently that there will be a convention taking place at some point in 2014 entitled “Sherlocked.” The event, put on with Massive Events and the show’s producers, is going to potentially be in both Europe and the United States, and will offer up everything that we suggested above and then some.
Here is what Vertue had to say in full:
“We’re very excited to be announcing our first official Sherlock convention for later in the year, aptly named SHERLOCKED. Massive Events have been pestering me for ages to get a date for this in the schedule but we wanted to make sure that we had the time and energy to make it a great, high quality and fun event, and now we have! Watch this space.”
Excited? You really should be! This was a show that felt for us extremely underutilized during the first two seasons when it comes to the convention circuit. That started to change last summer when it comes to Comic-Con, but what we’ve noticed is that “Sherlock” fans really are a different breed, and deserve their own opportunities to congregate.
We will have some more details to share as they are available. Also, be sure to visit the link here if you’re curious to read some more news about what could come up on “Sherlock” in the future. You can also sign up here to get further TV updates via our CarterMatt Newsletter.
