Hugh Jackman hosting 2014 Tony Awards, and we approve
Yes, we know that thought of an awards show on CBS not hosted by Neil Patrick Harris may be enough to make you fall over in shock, but let’s just say that the 2014 Tony Awards has found themselves a worthy replacement: Hugh Jackman. The man behind Wolverine, and a number of very memorable stage characters, will serve as the emcee for the fourth time. This puts him on equal footing with the “How I Met Your Mother” star, and further cements him as a favorite of the Broadway community.
In a statement confirming the news, CBS’ executive vice-president of specials, music, and live events in Jack Sussman said the following in touting the chance to bring Hugh back for another go-around:
“We are thrilled to have Hugh Jackman return to host the Tony Awards … Hugh is the ultimate performer — actor, singer and dancer — he does it all, second to none. He is a consummate entertainer and the one you want out there hosting your live television event.”
Now that Jackman is on board, you can really start to get together a list of ideas for just what he could bring to the table. Personally, we expect an array of all sorts of crazy things ranging from him sporting some interesting costumes to doing a number of musical numbers with all of the talented people that they will stick around him. Jackman is a man who knows how to do a number of different things, but entertain and play to a crowd has to be somewhere near the top of the list. He will do that and then some.
