‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 9: Even Cristin Milioti doesn’t know big Mother mystery

Just how much are the “How I Met Your Mother” producers keeping things under lock and key right now? Let’s just put it this way: They are not even telling the show’s title character what her actual name is just yet. That is definitely surprising when you consider that Cristin Milioti surely had a few questions on how she was supposed to play this woman, and her name had to be something that was on the list.

However, Milioti claims in a new interview (per Entertainment Weekly) that for whatever reason, this is just one piece of information that has not been completely relayed to her just yet:

“I don’t. I don’t know if it’s because they think I’m a terrible liar, but no, I have not been told that. It’s very much on lockdown … I know this sounds like an executive from CBS is passing me a piece of paper, but [the finale] will not disappoint. It’s been in great hands for nine years, and they love their fans. I think everyone’s going to really love the finale.”

In case you missed it, the finale was recently written and is now ready to go. Given that we don’t imagine that the Mother’s name would remain a mystery forever, this is probably one of those loose ends that is set to be tied up. We imagine that there are a few other little twists and turns that will happen, and by the time that the story ends, all that matters to us is that we are emotionally affected in some way. We don’t even feel like it is absolutely necessary for the Mother’s name to be revealed … though it would of course be very nice if it was.
