‘Arrow’ season 2: Tom Cavanagh joins ‘Flash’ spin-off in important role
As for who Cavanagh will play, think along the likes of Harrison Wells. He is the physicist behind the S.T.A.R. Labs Particle Accelerator, which is the very device that has led to the creation of Barry Allen’s new identity in the first place. Following the disaster over the accelerator, Wells becomes almost immediately one of the most hated faces in Central City; however, he discovers somewhat of a new purpose after realizing that he has helped to create someone with such extraordinary gifts.
The Barry Allen character first surfaced a little earlier this year, as we met him in conjunction with a two-episode arc on “Arrow,” where he came to Starling City in an attempt to find out more about a case … and see the “vigilante” with his own eyes. He remains one of the few good guys who knows now about Oliver Queen’s alter ego who is not actually working with him. The last we heard, he was in a coma; but, Felicity Smoak has not seen him for a while thanks to her other responsibilities.
While it’s almost impossible to call any pilot a slam dunk to be on the air, we feel good about the prospects for “The Flash.” This is a show that The CW has already hyped up, and it would be embarrassing if it does not get to the air after all the hype.
