‘Law & Order: SVU’ season 15, episode 14 preview: Who could be pregnant?

“Law & Order: SVU” is a series all about finding drama in almost every situation, and the promo below promises that we could be looking at one of the most “personal” stories for the show to date involving Olivia Benson. Specifically, it raises the question as to if she could be pregnant. Clearly, this is not a story that is being teased or manipulated by the editors; there is some sort of discussion about the possibility and a pregnancy test, based on the promo below.

But, if Mariska Hargitay’s character is in fact expecting, there are a number of things about her life that will have to change. There is of course a stark difference in how she will need to be physically in order to be better at her job, but there is also another element that really comes into play here: What sort of mental changes that she will need to make. This is something that, if there is a baby on the way, will change how she goes about her job. There’s another person to live for, and that is something that we see many expecting mothers and fathers wrestle with on cop shows.

“Tom Moore (guest star John Benjamin Hickey) arrives home from a business trip to find his young son, Nicky (guest star Duncan Nicholson), missing from his bed. With a history of behavioral problems, the cops suspect he wandered off alone, and the search becomes more urgent as the diabetic boy’s insulin pump runs out. But the investigation leads to something more dangerous when a criminal couple (guest stars Rosanna Arquette and Mark Boone Junior), known for child endangerment and pornography, is spotted with Nicky. With a child’s life on the line, the cops try to turn one suspect against the other before it’s too late. Meanwhile, a personal issue derails Sergeant Benson’s (Mariska Hargitay) current course.”
