‘Arrow’ season 2 spoilers: Colton Haynes says Roy’s journey will take time
Are you wanting to just flip the switch and have Roy Harper venture into full-on awesome territory on “Arrow” right away? Well, you better be prepared for the idea that this could be far more difficult than he first imagines.
While Wednesday’s episode is going to feature the start of a lengthy training process for the character (think something a bit more dangerous than a Rocky movie), it is going to be a while before we really get to a point where Roy is going to actually be a full-fledged member of Team Arrow. Heck, he doesn’t even know just yet that Oliver Queen is the man behind the hood. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, patience is the one thing that Colton Haynes says to expect beyond all else:
“Definitely. I think it’s going to be a long journey but it’s nice to at least know that Roy has garnered enough trust to start the steps of becoming a possible sidekick — if he doesn’t screw it up. That journey is going to be a lot longer than people expect. We’re going to draw it out a bit and let their minds wander.”
Some of the biggest challenges for Roy mostly include him trying to find a way to have his relationship with Thea stay strong, and to completely keep all of his emotions in check. After all, you have to remember that this is a guy who is going to be all over the place thanks to the serum, and given that we have already seen some of what it did to Slade Wilson, it is also more than likely to inflict some potential harm.
