‘Once Upon a Time’ season 3 spoilers: Ready for another Captain Hook episode?

We will be the first one to admit that when it comes to “Once Upon a Time” characters, our first reaction to having Captain hook on the show was a resounding “meh.” He was not a character who was as evil as we were hoping, and instead we just saw the guy get owned so many times by various characters that he was basically a pirate version of Wile E. Coyote.

Luckily, that has started to change already during season 3. “New York City Serenade” is an episode coming up in particular that relies on him heavily. Without Hook, it is possible that Emma Swan may have forever remained away from her family with some sort of alternate idea as to what her life is like. The same goes for Henry. We’re assuming here that Hook is able to convince them otherwise, given that there is not much of a show without the two of them.

So this brings us to “The Jolly Roger.” According to a tweet from series co-creator Adam Horowitz, this is the title of the 17th episode of the season. In term, this leads to another very-important question: Why give us a Hook-centric episode now, and what more is there to learn about his famous ship? This is a title that is very generic and yet specific at the same time; you know that it is about him and a certain aspect of his legacy, but not really anything more than that.

Hook is one of the show’s regulars, and while he may not be a part of that extremely-elaborate family tree that has been created, he does still have a role. He was connected at one point to Rumpelstiltskin’s wife, and obviously has a history with Peter Pan a.k.a. Rumple’s father.
