‘The Following’ season 2, episode 2 preview: Kevin Williamson on Ryan’s new danger

Following -The Following” returns to Fox tonight in its regular timeslot for the first time this season, and with that is going to come the emergence of just what sort of danger Ryan Hardy is going to be up against the rest of the way this season. There is going to be a new sort of danger that he is forced to take on, and in some ways, he really has not learned all of the lessons that you would have hoped for him over the course of the first season.

The pattern here is going to be oh-so-familiar, as Kevin Williamson says in the video below: He starts to get close to someone, and the moment that happens, trouble ensues. The woman that he gets close to this time around is Lily, the art dealer and lone survivor of the attack that we saw on the subway early on this season. She is basically the Harry Potter of this show, minus the magic abilities and the hope that she will save all of her kind. (Okay, the only real similarity that she has to him is that she is “the one who lived.”)

Of course, Lily is going to be attacked the moment that it starts to become clear that Ryan cares for her, and a massive sort of chase / manhunt begins at the New York Public Library. We also learn more about Joe’s whereabouts and story this time around, just as we also learn more about twins Luke and Mark. (We actually had no idea that Sam Underwood was British before this video, which says some great things about his American accent.)
