‘The Following’ season 2 spoilers: How long can Ryan Hardy keep himself hidden?
“The Following” has always to a certain extent been a show where there are complicated motives, but what we have seen this time around is a show where the motives are truly so much more complicated than they have ever been before. You have Ryan on the surface looking like he is 100% Team FBI, but what we learn after that in the premiere is that things are truly so much more complicated than they were before. This is a guy who also is working somewhat on an undercover angle, and not informing the FBI fully about what he is up to.
When will some of that be revealed? Think the upcoming February 3 episode entitled “Trust Me,” which is going to be something that some of these agents may have a hard time doing at this point. (Then again, the bureau was not exactly a poster child of intelligence at times during season 1.) If you want to see a little bit of what is going on here, see the just-released synopsis courtesy of Fox below:
“Ryan continues his search to find the correlation between the recent tragedies in New York City and Emma and the existing members of the Havenport cult, while the FBI becomes increasingly aware of his undercover agenda. Meanwhile, a shocking event leads Joe to put a new plan in action.”
Clearly, this is evidence that Ryan is still working somewhat in secret by the time this episode airs, and that must mean that Kevin Bacon’s character finds a way to make some other moves on Monday’s episode without their knowledge. As for Joe, the only thing that would surprise us at this point would be if he comes out and says he is alive.
