‘Sons of Anarchy’ season 7: Updates on writing, filming, Kurt Sutter’s next show

For those of you wanting news on the plot for “Sons of Anarchy” season 7, our advice to you is go find a way to occupy your time for much of the next several months. It’s far too early for there to be any information out there! The news will come pouring in eventually, but you are looking at a case here where it will take months rather than weeks for it to start to trickle in.

What we want to at least give you today is a road map of sorts for the rest of the motorcycle series in terms of production, along with when the next Kurt Sutter series “The Bastard Executioner” could begin its own process to getting on TV. This all comes to the latest edition of “WTFSutter,” which you can see below.

1. First, let’s dish out the news on the “Sons of Anarchy” production window. The writers room will start up to work next month, and filming should begin the last week of May. As for a premiere date, think along the lines of the first couple of weeks of September. This is the same sort of pattern that the show traditionally follows.

2. As you may have heard, Drea de Matteo is going to be a series regular, and you can expect to see Jimmy Smits return, as well.

3. As for Sutter’s new show, “The Bastard Executioner” will shoot its pilot after the conclusion of “Sons of Anarchy” filming its final season. From here, the ball will be in FX’s court as to whether or not to pick it up. There are no guarantees when it comes to the world of pilots, but we would be absolutely shocked if the network didn’t take a chance on another show from a guy that has created such an enormous hit for them.
