ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 3 spoilers: Bellamy Young teases way more in way of election

Have you been dying for some more “Scandal” scoop? We totally understand, since there has not really been that much to say lately. The show has been on hiatus since the fall, and isn’t going to be back with its remaining eight episodes until February 27.

Luckily, we know that when we do return to the world of Olivia Pope and Washington DC, there is quite a bit that will need to be addressed. Olivia’s mother “Maya Lewis” is back causing trouble now that she is on the loose, Jake is now the head of B6-13 rather than Rowan, and there is also a little something known as the election that could really change the entire course of what is going to be coming up for President Fitz Grant as his wife-only-in-the-technical-sense Mellie.

Obviously, you knew that the campaign was going to be an enormous focus of the episodes ahead, but this was only echoed further in some new comments Bellamy Young gave to TV Guide:

“We’re going to spend a lot of time with the campaign, so it’s the machinations of trying to get us back in the White House for another four years.”

There are some other things that will shape and change Mellie’s world, including an arrival of a new love interest. What makes this so interesting to us is that over time, we have come to see Fitz rely on her mostly because she is there. But, how is he going to react when he suddenly realizes that there is someone else out there actually pursuing her to such a level? That could create some insanity or even jealousy in his brain.

Is there anything that you’re hoping to see in particular from Mellie on “Scandal” the rest of the way? Share your thoughts below.
