‘Mike & Molly’ season 4 spoilers: Kathy Bates to spend time with Melissa McCarthy

Kathy Bates has taken on quite the array of roles as of late. The Academy Award-winning actress has recently done everything from “Two and a Half Men” (playing “Charlie Harper” of all people) to “Harry’s Law,” to also another part currently on “American Horror Story.”

So where is the actress going here? According to TV Guide, Bates is going to play a friend of Melissa McCarthy’s character in an upcoming season 4 episode of “Mike & Molly” on CBS. This comes after Bates was originally approached to play a role as a famous author late last year, but had to turn it down at the time thanks to her part on the Ryan Murphy drama. That part instead went to Susan Sarandon.

There is some pretty interesting irony here on two fronts:

1. Sarandon, Bates, and McCarthy are all starring in a new comedy “Tammy” coming out in theaters this summer.

2. Also, both “Mike & Molly” and “Two and a Half Men” have a major connection in Chuck Lorre, who was a nice little way to make sure that someone was able to work something out with Kathy.

Even though “Mike & Molly” actually started off this season without a premiere date, they were able to work something out and get back on the air. How were they able to be a solid player again? One of the reasons is simply because the show has a consistent following, and new comedy “Mom” did not end up becoming a smash hit like some were hoping. At this point, we feel pretty confident that “Mike & Molly” is actually going to be on the air for quite a while moving forward.

What do you think about Bates’ casting, and are you all for seeing as much of the actress on everything as possible? Share some of your thoughts below.
