‘New Girl’ season 3 spoilers: Zooey Deschanel talks Prince, Super Bowl at Golden Globes

In February, “New Girl” season 3 is going to air an episode unlike any others: The Super Bowl spectacular! There will be huge ratings for sure, but there will also be some great news on the subject of guest stars, surprises, and hopefully some laughs to go along with it.

So what about that big, much-hyped appearance from Prince on the show? That is something that series star Zooey Deschanel was quick to dish on while on the red carpet Sunday night for the Golden Globes. Speaking to Ryan Seacrest’s on E!’s red-carpet show, the actress / frequent singer had the following to say about what it was like working with the “Purple Rain” singer, who apparently filmed his part in a very tiny window of time:

“We have Prince on our show. We shot it right before the holidays and he’s amazing. I’m so excited … He plays the role of Prince (go figure), and he was really fast! He was really funny, and I felt a little bit put to shame (laughs) because he got everything in one or two takes.”

Prince apparently was actually interested in doing the show, and that is what brought him on board in the first place as producers rightfully decided that the best place for him would be one of the biggest events of the entire year. It gives the reclusive rock star a great deal of attention, just as it also gives “New Girl” just another ace to promote their show with. Hopefully, this is going to be one that makes this special more memorable than ever; while we have seen similar Super Bowl stunts over the years, we have to be honest here and say that more often than not, we find some of these Super Bowl stunts to be cheesy and not really worth the effort.
