‘How I Met Your Mother’ season 9 spoilers: ‘Unpause,’ and Marshall’s new struggle

“How I Met Your Mother” season 9 has covered a lot of ground so far, but there is still one issue that really needs to be touched on: What in the world is going to happen when it comes to Marshall and Lily? So far, these two are in a constant-drama sort of situation when it comes to their relationship. We’ve had Marshall take the job as a judge in New York City, which impedes drastically on what Lily was planning to do when it comes to her work with the Captain in Italy. There has to be some sort of middle ground in here, right? You’d have to hope so.

The upcoming 15th episode of the season (airing on January 28) is entitled “Unpause,” and in the full synopsis below from CBS, you can get a little bit more of an idea when it comes to just what to expect:

“When Barney drinks too much, Ted and Robin take advantage of him and get him to reveal secrets he’s been hiding for years. Meanwhile, Marshall does everything he can to avoid fighting with Lily.”

The title is a reference to Lily declaring a “pause” on their impending fighting when he arrived to Farhampton, mostly so that they could deal with the mountain of other problems that they had to go through. So it would only make sense that he would try to keep that going as long as possible, just so that he didn’t have to deal with most of the drama. But most of these sort of missions are fleeting, and sooner or later, he would have to deal with it anyway. It may as well be better to just get it out of the way.
