NBC”s ‘Grimm’ season 3, episode 9 review: Can you heal a healer?

While Friday night may not have been the hottest one out there when it comes to new television, we did at least have a new installment of “Grimm” on NBC. This was an opportunity to see another semi-isolated case, which we are pleased to say was a pretty interesting one.

We are always fascinated with the sort of yin and yang that comes with being a healer in these sort of supernatural-themed shows. What are you really capable of healing, and also what are the repercussions of committing such an act? With every action comes consequences, and it is never as easy as just being able to perform miracles without issue. This story unfolded in some interesting ways, as we have a Wesen miracle man who at first was targeted by the police, and then he eventually became a target himself as his past caught back up to him … or did it?

What ended up happening instead was a story of redemption, and how Nick and the team really did not get their man … mostly because he got himself. It was an emotional death of a creature who really could not kill himself by any other means than by his own hand, and with his own powers. Ironically, he chose to save the life of the very woman who was coming after him.

The most polarizing part of this episode really may be just how much work the guest stars got. The regulars did not really have that much to do, and that was a very different sort of experience as the Wesen’s story dominated much throughout.

As for that little bit of long-term storyline, let’s just say that it involved, Joe, Alicia, and then … a cliffhanger for next week! Frustrating, but an appropriate way to close off. Grade: B.
