‘The Good Wife’ season 5 to sample Bruce Springsteen music in upcoming episode
In what has to be a combination that we did not necessarily see coming, the Chicago folks of “The Good Wife” are going to start rocking out to the music of a New Jersey legend in Bruce Springsteen. Nonetheless, that is precisely what is happening here.
According to a new report coming out now via TVLine, three songs from the upcoming January 12 episode will be from the Boss’ new album entitled “High Hopes.” The story is going to revolve around Will and Alicia (of course), who are each representing one-half of a couple that has been accused of drug smuggling.
As for when you can hear a small taste of the music, think along the lines of the end of Sunday night’s new episode. There will be a little bit of the music used in the promo, and then you will have to wait until the actual episode airs itself to get a more sizable sample of the song. Why is this show going in this route? The easy answer to that is promotion! CBS wants ratings, and Bruce Springsteen’s label likely wants to get the word out on the music to the best of its ability. This situation really is the best of both worlds in that regard. While “The Good Wife” may be one of the most critically-acclaimed shows on TV, the truth of the matter here is that the ratings for it are not that great for most other shows on the network. Anything to boost numbers is going to be done, at least so long as it is not destroying the quality in the process.
What do you think about this news, and does the presence of Springsteen make you more or less excited to watch “The Good Wife” moving forward? Be sure to share some of your thoughts below, and click here if you want to watch a promo of the next new episode of the show.
