‘Sherlock’ season 3, episode 1 reaction: Steven Moffat, Benedict Cumberbatch on ‘death,’ survival

Sherlock season 3“Sherlock” season 2 ended with quite a shock when it came to the Holmes character when he faked his death. Then, in perhaps one of the greatest moments of slide-of-hand ever, it was revealed immediately afterward that the entire thing was a ruse. Sherlock lived, and the premiere was all about the return of the character, and also how he managed to pull off one of his greatest magic tricks to date.

In the video HERE, you can hear the likes of executive producers Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss along with Holmes himself in Benedict Cumberbatch all discuss some of the circumstances that led to the stunning moment where Holmes appeared dead, and they also touch a little bit on just what were some of the crazy reactions around Britain about the season 2 finale. Cumberbatch in particular comments that he was disappointed that he was out of the country when the episode aired, mostly because he has heard that the reaction around the entire country was tremendous.

Now that Sherlock has been proven to be alive, the question is just where we go from here? In Sunday’s episode “The Sign of Three”, the major question is going to be whether or not Holmes is going to be able to handle some of the responsibilities that come with being a Best Man. It has not really been his strong suit at times (or ever) to really think of anyone else before himself. So with that in mind, how in the world will he handle doing it on a larger scale, especially when he has a guy in Watson counting on him? Sherlock faking his own death may be an easier thing for him to pull off than this.
