‘The Newsroom’ season 3 renewal still in limbo, but Aaron Sorkin slams Olivia Munn rumor
Here we are at the start of 2014, and we are sadly still waiting to find out whether or not we are going to get more of “The Newsroom” anytime soon. While we know that the show is an easy target for most snipers and critics out there, we really enjoyed it throughout its two-season run. Jeff Daniels has also said multiple times that the show will be back, but it is all a question of when thanks to the schedule of series creator Aaron Sorkin.
Even though Sorkin may be a busy guy these days, he did take the opportunity to respond to what was a pretty nasty report that came out from Radar Online suggesting that both he and the cast did not get along with Olivia Munn on the show’s set. Speaking in a statement to E! News, the prolific showrunner was quick to put the entire publication on blast:
“The story bears no resemblance to reality. Olivia is a perfect cast member who is loved and respected by the entire cast, by the crew and the producers, by HBO and especially by me.”
Sorkin obviously wanted to nip this story in the event that there is a return date for the show at some point, or just so that the entire situation could be cleared up and there are no hard feelings anywhere. The thing that is probably the strangest to us about this report is the mere timing of it. Why start spreading rumors at this point? It really does not make a whole lot of sense, when you consider that the show hasn’t been around for some time, and by the time that it is on the air again, most everyone will have forgotten that this story ever existed in the first place.
