‘Arrow’ season 2 video: Go behind the scenes with Canary fight

With “Arrow” season 2 right now in the middle of what is a pretty substantial winter hiatus until January 15, what better time to take a look back at some of the cool moments that took place over the course of the show’s run?

In the video below, you can take the opportunity to find out a little more information about how one of the standard “Arrow” battles is done. In this case, we’re talking about the battle between the Canary and the Dollmaker that takes place in “Broken Dolls,” as James Bamford, the fight designer for the show, takes you behind the scenes and shows you some of the elements that are involved in orchestrating one of the big battles that you would see on the show. There are a number of different components that make them up, and there is a lot of thought put into them when it comes to how certain characters would react to movement based on their personality and training.

This fight scene shown in the video was one that the Canary, at least in theory, really should have won, given that she was immensely more prepared for the battle and had the better training. However, as Bamford points out, what really gives the villain here his substantial advantage is the simple matter otherwise known as location. He knows the area that he is fighting infinitely more than the Canary does, and that is what allows him to temporarily defeat her … with the operating word there being temporarily. After all, we all know what happened to the Dollmaker in the end.

It’s been several weeks since we have seen the Canary in present-day Starling City, but given that we are still seeing plenty of Sara Lance in flashback scenes, you have to believe that she is going to come back in time. As a matter of fact, an upcoming Lance-themed episode feels like the perfect time for her to make a return appearance.
