‘The X Factor’ USA finale: Can we predict between Alex & Sierra, Jeff Gutt with iTunes?

What we have formed a tendency to do when it comes to “The Voice” is sit down every morning before the results show, look at iTunes, and then try to figure out from there just who is staying in the competition and who is leaving based on that. When you really look at the rankings, it’s not that difficult to do.

But, it is also easier to do this with a show like “The Voice” than one like “The X Factor” USA, since iTunes is not a factor in the overall voting here like it is with the Mark Burnett reality creation. Here it is all about people are just casting their votes in a number of different ways and through a number of different mediums. Alex & Sierra have a huge lead on iTunes over both Jeff Gutt and Carlito Olivero, but they have to hope that this translates into actual votes if they want to have any hope of winning.

Just how dominant are they in terms of digital sales? Let’s just put it this way. The duo have six songs on the charts right now, including two in “Give Me Love” and “Say Something” that are each in the top 20. By contrast, Jeff has two songs, and the highest-ranked song is at #80, and Carlito does not have any at all. If anyone other than Alex & Sierra is crowned at the end of the competition, then it will be one of the biggest surprises in singing-show history, at least for the few who are bothering to follow this season. Them not winning the competition would also be the sort of thing that would make Simon Cowell cry into his pillow at night.
